Why women buy shoes that don’t fit
Four in ten choose fashion over comfort
Four in ten women admitted to buying shoes in the wrong size if they were fashionable and desirable, according to new research.
If they find a pair of desirableshoesthat don’t quite fit, they will buy them anyway, even if they arepainfulto wear.
Research found that37 per centof female shoppers were willing to put up with uncomfortableshoesif they were infashion. Seventeen per cent of men also admitted buyingshoesin the wrong size.
Perhaps not coincidentally, the poll of more than 2,000 adults also found 80 per cent of women sufferfootproblems such ascracked heels, bunions, corns and in-growing nails.
Yet four out of ten with a foot problem have never sought medical advice, according to the survey by the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.
Lorraine Jones, from the society, said: ‘Many of us find it hard to resist abargainand the latest fashion must-have, but it’s important to remember that by buyingill-fitting shoes, you’re not only going to end up in discomfort, but you are also putting your health at risk.
